Ongoing user experience feedback during product development is crucial for success, but outsourcing UX testing can be costly, and when you're a startup, every penny counts.

After you have exhausted your friends and family network, how do you get affordable, unbiased feedback on your product's usability?

As an experienced UX tester and startup founder who knows all about pinching pennies, here's where I can help.

better together

You may be wondering...

I love supporting founders and entrepreneurs. I also enjoy testing great products and helping to make them even better. Making my services affordable and accessible is one way I can give back to the startup community.
The higher price tag for other testing agencies is in large part due to their robust testing software. Many of them include auto transcription, AI data analysis tools and test prompt templates, all of which are super neat-o features! If a company's budget can accommodate it, I'd recommend giving those platforms a whirl. But I have found that most startups are happy to sacrifice the bells and whistles for more money in the bank.
I have tested both digital and physical products including websites, apps, software, and video games. I am open to testing other products even if they fall outside of this scope, if I feel I could be of value. Let me know what you have in mind.
It depends on your objectives. For certain stages of product development, it isn't always necessary for testers to match your target user profile. For example, someone doesn't need to be a baking enthusiast to properly assess the ease of use, design, and functionality of a recipe app. In general, your product should be intuitive enough that anyone would be comfortable using it, so feedback from a diverse demographic is valuable.
However, when you are assessing product-market fit, preferred features, or whether your product meets your end user's needs as a whole, it is good practice to ensure those testers are your target customers.
It's also important to test with multiple people in order to receive an accurate representation of usability. The standard recommendation is 5-7 testers per iteration. Research shows that 5 test participants will uncover 85% of a product's usability issues. Exploring user trends may require a larger sample for statistical significance.
My testing process is far more in-depth than what you'd expect to receive from a tester who is outside of the industry, which, depending on your testing objectives, can be an advantage or a disadvantage. If you have user persona requirements that I do not meet, or if you need more testers, I'm happy to help you source additional users or refer you to other quality agencies.
This depends on what you're looking to accomplish in the amount of time I'm testing your product. I'm happy to discuss this with you prior to the test to make sure I use the time efficiently. For suggestions and ideas, read these tips for designing test questions.
